Dhola Maru

Tucked away in the deserts of Rajasthan, Bagru is a small town popular for traditional handblock printing using natural dyes and ethnic motifs.

Determined to give this long lost art form a rebirth of sorts, we bring you this collection of festive must-haves with a contemporary hint. These silhouettes have been crafted using natural dyes prepared as follows:

- Natural Red: Attained by straining a gum paste solution through a cotton cloth and placing the printed fabric in a furnace.

- Natural Black: Also called Syahi, this hue is achieved after soaking a mixture of camel shoes/horse shoes and molasses in water for at least a fortnight.
